Goodness

·

“‭‭How good you are—how kind! Teach me your commands.

Psalm‬ ‭119:68‬ ‭GNTD‬‬

Sometimes, I look too deep into the bad or negative things that happen in my day to day life. I am super hard on myself. I will replay a situation over and over in my head, and disect it and tweak it to get it to the perfect outcome of how it could have been, to save myself from embarassment or feeling guilty. By that time though, it has already happened, and I have already felt the feelings.

All the time and energy I put into trying to fix bad situations that have already passed, could be instead used to focus on the good things God has done. Let’s be honest, on my own I am nothing but a wretch. I deserve everything bad that could and will happen. Not only do I deserve it, but I earn it. Apart from God there is no good in me.

God is the goodness in my life. The Bible says that everything that is good comes from him:

“‭‭Everything good comes from God. Every perfect gift is from him. These good gifts come down from the Father who made all the lights in the sky. But God never changes like the shadows from those lights. He is always the same.”

James‬ ‭1:17‬ ‭ERV‬‬

I am learning to focus my energy on the good things that God has done and is doing, and letting go of the bad things I have done. I have really started to push myself more into a positive mindset since the beginning of the year. It’s been a prayer of mine to really love how God loves and to see his goodness in every aspect of my life.

Thanks for reading today’s blog. I have added two more songs to the Love Is Ugly- Spotify Playlist. These songs well represent the theme of this blog, but are a stark contrast from the first three songs added to the playlist last blog.

The songs added this time are “The Goodness” by TobyMac Feat: Blessing Offir and “The Goodness of Jesus” by CityAlight. You can check out these songs at the link below.
